Low Blood Pressure Treatment
Low blood pressure, or hypotension, is a condition where blood pressure drops so significantly that it impairs blood flow to vital organs, potentially causing symptoms like dizziness, fainting, fatigue, nausea, difficulty breathing, blurred vision, palpitations, and cold, clammy skin. Blood pressure, a crucial vital sign along with heartbeat, breathing, and temperature, reflects the force of circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels. This pressure is influenced by the heart’s pumping action and the arteries’ response to blood flow. Hypotension contrasts with hypertension and is often associated with shock, though it doesn’t always indicate it.
While individuals with ideal weight and fitness may naturally have lower blood pressure without adverse effects, consistently low readings around 90/60 mm Hg or lower can be concerning. Such low pressure can lead to inadequate blood flow to essential organs like the brain, kidneys, and heart, posing risks of severe health complications. Maintaining a balance is crucial, as extremely low blood pressure can disrupt the delivery of oxygen and nutrients, potentially leading to life-threatening conditions.
